The history of FSO as inspiration for an Academy of Fine Arts graduation project

Education, culture, and preserving a sense of place are important pillars of F.S.O. PARK’s development.

That is why we collaborate with young creators who can look at the history of the former factory from a fresh perspective.

One such project is Point of Dispersion (Punkt rozproszenia), the graduation project of Dawid Konopka, a student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.

The installation was created using materials recovered during the demolition of the former Welding Shop. Through the creative process, these elements were given new meaning and a new function. The raw, industrial form incorporates reclaimed industrial components, light, and motion sensors.

The work responds to the presence of viewers, while changing light patterns make every interaction part of the installation itself.

💡 The project is based on the idea of giving a second life to materials that have lost their original purpose. Elements connected to the history of the former factory become carriers of new meanings and a starting point for reflection on change, memory, and the relationship between people and the spaces around them.

Projects like this demonstrate that industrial heritage can be more than a part of history-it can also inspire new artistic and educational initiatives.
