From the cradle of polish automotive industry to F.S.O. PARK
Yesterday, the grounds of the former Passenger Car Factory (FSO) hosted a meeting dedicated to the second edition of The Cradle of Polish Automotive Industry by Andrzej Krzysztof Wróblewski.
The discussion was moderated by Maciej Bień – founder of the Museum in the Factory and President of the FSO Heritage Foundation. Participants included Tomasz Wróblewski, Chairman of the Warsaw Enterprise Institute Foundation Council, Marcin Michalec, COO of OKAM Capital, and special guest Sobiesław Zasada, a legend of Polish motorsport.
The conversation offered a fascinating journey back to a time when FSO stood as one of the symbols of Poland’s industrial ambitions. We reflected on the origins of the factory, the realities of the communist era, the people who shaped the Polish automotive industry, and the significance of FSO vehicles, which for many Poles represented modernity, aspiration, and personal freedom.
It was no coincidence that the event took place here. Today, the former FSO site stands on the threshold of a new chapter in its history. F.S.O. PARK is a project that will open this historic area to the residents of Warsaw while preserving the memory of its industrial heritage. The former factory grounds will be transformed into a vibrant mixed-use district featuring homes, services, green spaces, and public areas, continuing the story of a place that has been an important part of the identity of Praga-Północ and Warsaw for decades.
Thank you to all participants for an inspiring conversation about the past, present, and future of this remarkable place.
