Discussing urban heatwave adaptation at the Climate Partnership meeting

Recent days have reminded us that high temperatures are becoming an increasingly significant challenge for cities.

Heatwaves were one of the key topics discussed during the Annual Meeting of the Climate Partnership, which we attended last week. Surrounded by the greenery of the Warsaw Municipal Forests Environmental Education Centre, we explored measures aimed at mitigating the effects of extreme heat and discussed how cities can prepare for increasingly frequent heatwave events.

A particularly insightful part of the programme focused on older adults. Experts presented research findings on how heatwaves affect the daily lives of seniors and highlighted their specific needs in the face of rising temperatures.

This is also an important topic from the perspective of our own projects. At PRESTIA – Senior Living Residences, we incorporate solutions designed to support residents’ comfort regardless of weather conditions. The development will also include spaces and activities available not only to PRESTII residents, but also to seniors living in the surrounding neighbourhood. We approach these challenges from a broader perspective, taking into account the everyday needs of different age groups as well as the ongoing impacts of climate change.

During the meeting, we were also honoured to receive the Climate Partnership certificate. We have been a member of the platform since 2023 and are pleased to see the community of engaged organisations continue to grow. More and more companies recognise the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing in efforts aimed at adapting to climate change.
